The prestigious American magazine Via Satellite today recognized Jean-Yves Le Gall, the Chief Executive Officer of Arianespace and Starsem, as its 2005 Satellite Executive of the Year.

Jean-Yves Le Gall received the “Satellite Executive of the Year” honor in Washington D.C. during the Satellite 2006 conference and exhibition, which is one of the key annual gatherings for global telecommunications executives.

“I am very pleased to have been chosen for this honor, which has become a management benchmark for the satellite industry,” Le Gall said. “I accept the award on behalf of every employee at Arianespace and Starsem, whose combined efforts have enabled our group to retain its leadership position in an increasingly challenging competitive environment.”

The international satellite telecommunications industry publication said its selection was based on Le Gall’s accomplishments in positioning Arianespace and Starsem at the commercial launch services industry’s forefront, “all while building its business and enabling the satellite sector to move forward with new services and innovations.”

Via Satellite recognized Le Gall for his leadership in guiding the Arianespace group through a challenging period in its history,” explained Via Satellite Editor Nick Mitsis. “In 2005, the company marked many achievements, including bringing the heavy-lift Ariane 5 ECA launcher into operational service and moving ahead with its plan to develop a family of launch vehicles capable of placing any size spacecraft into any orbit.”
