The EU-Japan Business Round Table (EJBRT) named Jean-Yves Le Gall, Chairman and CEO of Arianespace, co-chairman of the organization during its annual meeting in Brussels on July 6-7, 2009.

The EU-Japan Business Round Table was created in 1995 to foster communications between Japanese and European industries. Its main objective is to submit recommendations to the European Commissions, to the governments of European Union countries and to the Japanese government, in order to develop trade, investment and industrial collaboration between Europe and Japan, by enhancing reciprocal access to these markets and improving the regulatory environment. Recommendations by EJBRT also concern issues of common interest, such as industrial standards, WTO, climate change, etc.

Jean-Yves Le Gall, who joined the Round Table four years ago, has been elected to a two-year term as co-chairman, renewable once. His co-chairman is Tadashi Okamura, Chairman of Toshiba Corporation.

Following his appointment, Jean-Yves Le Gall said: “I am very honored by this distinction, which reflects the deep relations of mutual trust between the Japanese and European space industries. Leading Japanese operators have been calling on Arianespace to launch their satellites for more than 20 years, creating solid foundations for an excellent partnership.”
