Arianespace is participating in the World Space Risk Forum from February 28 to March 1 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where it will confirm its position as the benchmark launch Service & Solutions company in the Middle East.

Continued leadership

As the world’s leading launch services company, Arianespace is one of the main partners in the World Space Risk Forum, which brings together some 500 participants from around the world. During the forum, Arianespace will confirm both its world leadership and its continued success in the Middle East. Since being founded, Arianespace has signed over 350 launch service contracts, and has carried out 204 Ariane launches for 78 customers, carrying a total of 298 payloads, including more than half of all commercial satellites now in service worldwide. It has also performed 26 Soyuz launches (24 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome via the joint European-Russian subsidiary Starsem, and two at the Guiana Space Center), and the first Vega launch.

Three launchers at the Equator

On October 21, 2011, Arianespace opened a new chapter in the history of space with the first launch of the Soyuz rocket from the Guiana Space Center. Just a few months later, on February 13, 2012, Arianespace successfully launched the first Vega light launcher for the European space industry. Now deploying Ariane 5, Soyuz and Vega at the Guiana Space Center, located near the Equator in French Guiana, Arianespace is the only launch services company in the world capable of launching all types of payloads to all orbits: communications, scientific and Earth observation satellites, constellations, missions to the International Space Station, etc.

Number 1 in the Middle East

For the last 27 years, Arianespace has worked for the major telecommunications operators in the Middle East, supporting the region’s strong growth by orbiting a total of 19 satellites, accounting for nearly 75% of the market. Arianespace is set to continue along this path, since it will be launching another satellite for the operator Arabsat.

A major partner to the World Space Risk Forum 2012

During the forum Arianespace will be reviewing its launch record on Ariane 5, Soyuz and Vega for the space insurance community, and presenting its outlook for 2012 and beyond. Jean-Yves Le Gall, who received an Achievement Award from the space insurance industry, said, “Arianespace is the principal contributor to the space insurance market, as well as the world’s most reliable provider of space transportation services. Having launched more than half of all commercial satellites worldwide, Arianespace has become a key partner to the space insurance sector. Our relations with insurers have always been very transparent, and our participation in this major forum allows us to maintain this long-standing relationship on a basis of mutual trust.”
