During the World Satellite Risk Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from March 1 to 3, 2010, Arianespace is reaffirming its role as the benchmark launch service provider for the Middle East.

30 years of success

The world’s leading launch Service & Solutions company, Arianespace is one of the main partners in this international event, which brings together more than 300 participants from around the world. Arianespace, which is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary, confirms its world leadership and ongoing success in the Middle East.

Since its founding, Arianespace has signed more than 300 launch Service & Solutions contracts – including four new contracts already signed in 2010 – and has launched 277 satellites for 76 customers, accounting for more than half of all commercial satellites now in service.

A flawless record for the last seven years

With 35 successful launches in a row since 2003, Ariane 5 has largely proven its technical maturity and demonstrated its operational capabilities. Ariane 5 is the only launcher on the market capable of simultaneously launching two payloads, while also handling a complete range of missions, from commercial launches into geostationary orbit, to launches of scientific spacecraft into special orbits.

Arianespace set a new record for Ariane 5 in 2009, with seven launches during a calendar year. These missions orbited nine commercial satellites, the Herschel space telescope, the Planck scientific observatory and the Helios 2B observation satellite.

Number 1 in the Middle East

Arianespace has teamed up with the leading operators in the booming Middle East region over the last 25 years, launching a total of 15 satellites, for a nearly 65% market share. Over the next two years Arianespace will launch six satellites for the operators Yahsat (Abu Dhabi), Arabsat (Arab League), Nilesat (Egypt) and RascomStar-QAF (Africa).

A major Forum partner

During the World Satellite Risk Forum 2010, Arianespace will review its objectives for 2010 and beyond for the world’s leading space insurers. Topics will include Arianespace’s family of launchers, the current status of the Soyuz at CSG and Vega programs, market trends, etc.

According to Jean-Yves Le Gall, Arianespace Chairman and CEO, “Arianespace has always had a very open relationship with the insurance sector, and our presence at the World Satellite Risk Forum will enable us to sustain these ties, through communications based on mutual trust.”
