At Satellite 2013, from Monday, March 18 to Thursday, March 21, in Washington, D.C., Arianespace reaffirms its position as the benchmark commercial launch services provider for the world’s leading satellite manufacturers and operators.

Sustained leadership

During this industry landmark event, bringing together operators, manufacturers and service providers from throughout the space sector, Arianespace, the world’s first commercial launch company, continues to confirm its world leadership. Since being founded, Arianespace has signed more than 375 launch contracts with 78 different customers. It has carried out 212 Ariane launches, orbiting 311 payloads, including more than half of the commercial satellites now in orbit, along with 30 Soyuz launches (26 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, via the Euro-Russian subsidiary Starsem, and four from the Guiana Space Center in France Guiana), and the first launch of the Vega light launcher.

A record backlog of orders

Drawing on a complete range of launch vehicles, with proven reliability and availability, Arianespace wins more than half of the commercial launch contracts open to competitive bidding on the international market every year. This gives it a very healthy backlog of launch orders. Arianespace signed a new launch services contract at Satellite 2013, to orbit three satellites for the international operator Intelsat. Since the beginning of the year, Arianespace has already signed a contract with Eutelsat to launch two satellites and another contract with the Australian operator NBN (National Broadband Network), for the launch of two satellites.

Six Ariane 5 launches are scheduled for 2013 (including the first mission of the year, already performed with success), along with three Soyuz launches from CSG (in addition to a launch from Baikonur, already performed) and one Vega launch. The outstanding performance of these launch vehicles, coupled with Arianespace’s backlog of launch orders, have made the company the world leader in the satellite launch services industry for several years, with a market share of well over 50%.
